We have the special story of Pete Day, who for over 40 years has enjoyed the sport of rough shooting and working alongside his trained English springer spaniels.

Since 1999 Pete has been working with his dogs using Jan Fennell’s method, and to his delight has found that his dogs are both happier and able to do their jobs much better than before.
Pete’s success had been so impressive that he was able to include his other friend and companion Chaser, a very handsome German Shepherd dog into the teaching programme. One of the most noticeable results of this training programme is that the dog is able to do its job when required but can switch off when it is off duty. This means that Chaser is able to walk and play in and around the farm area and totally ignore any chickens, geese, horses and other livestock.
Pete and six of his friends plan to mark The International Day of the Dog by taking their dogs to a safe stretch of water where the dogs can have fun retrieving assorted dummies. The handlers will also use this time to introduce their young and up and coming dogs to the joy of playing in water and swimming.
Continuing in the spirit of these celebrations, the seven are also planning a fund raising Hog Roast to raise much wanted cash for the J.G. Dog Sanctuary based in Wressle nr Brigg. This shelter is firmly in the hearts of all the local people, and has been doing marvellous work for well over 30 years.
