"When our daughter Lucy introduced us to Jan's books, we realised we were really on to something. It was wonderful to know there were people out there who had the same respect and regard for animals as we do! Lucy's rescue dog is a joy now, and we are getting there with our two. It's not easy - there are no quick fixes - but it works in the best way - from the dog's viewpoint, and that's how we like it. Keep up the good work, Jan and Tony!"

"Of course, every day should really be the day of the dog! These amazing animals are our companions, protectors and faithful friends - what would we do without them?

Jan Fennell, the famous Dog Listener, is renowned for her work with dogs and their owners, and the idea she and her son had to mark a special 'International Day of the Dog', is a brilliant one. Sometimes we may take our dogs for granted - this will remind us never to do that and to repay their loyalty with our own."

"Don't have a dog in your life if you can't love it and treat it gently and with respect.

LET'S KICK THE BULLIES OUT!"

"I have always believed that having a dog is a huge responsibility, and when I first meet Jan Fennell I knew that I was right. To my delight, whilst working with Jan on her first television series, I discovered that anyone who wants to give a dog a great life really could.

On behalf of my fabulous Westie, Charlie, I will be supporting “The International Day of the Dog” campaign to demand the end of CRUELTY & BULLYING."

"Hi. I'm Mark Leishman, representing New Zealand in a desire to respect and honour our special mates, the dogs. Dogs downunder have a place of honour in history as they helped tame our rugged land. We have to continue to remind ourselves accross the world that a dog represents generosity of spirit, boundless love, and willingness to serve. For that reason alone I believe we should all support International Day of the Dog."

"People who inflict pain or fear on animals as a means of "training" should be banned from coming anywhere near them.

The number of "retired" greyhounds, some as young as two years old, who have obviously been cruelly treated while being schooled and raced is a stain on our reputation as an animal loving country. Their ability to give their trust and loyalty to any other human being always amazes me. Any campaign for an end to the abuse of dogs through our ignorance and arrogance has to be a good idea."
